2015 Art on Parade - Northglenn, CO

Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF) is conducting an open entry competition to select six sculptures ─ valued at no more than $25,000 each ─ to be part of Northglenn’s “Art on Parade” on-loan sculpture program.  The selected pieces will be installed for a period of one year at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park surrounding Webster Lake in Northglenn, Colorado.

Each of the six finalists will receive a $700 honorarium to help offset their expenses. In addition, $1,000 will be awarded to the artist who is the recipient of the annual “People’s Choice Award.” Artists will receive substantial recognition and opportunity to sell; therefore, all pieces must be for sale.  The placement of selected pieces will begin in late May, 2015 and will be on display until May, 2016.

Since the program’s inception in 2001, the NAHF has purchased each of the People’s Choice winning sculptures.  Although the purchase of the People’s Choice winner is not guaranteed, it is the goal of the Foundation to purchase permanent art for the City of Northglenn through the program.

Submitted sculptures are to be garden-sized or larger (at least three feet in one dimension) and valued at no more than $25,000.  The sculpture must be completed before submission deadline.

Pieces must be ready for outdoor installation and have the capability to be welded to a 1/4" steel plate for installation.  Another method for installation is a mounting system using no less than 3/8” bolts.  If using the bolt system, a minimum of a three point bolting system is required.

Durable outdoor medium is acceptable.  It is imperative that submissions withstand the elements and abuse of an outdoor display.  No hanging sculptures, wooden sculptures, or water features.

Please submit three images of ONE sculpture: two images clearly showing the front and back of the sculpture; one other showing detail.  Be sure to show the scale of the work.  NOTE: Multiple sculpture submissions are allowed. You must create a CafĂ© profile and registration for each piece submitted.  In addition, you will need to upload a new set of images to each of your profiles. Registration content is not transferable from one account to another. Return to CaFE Registration (https://www.callforentry.org/register_info.php) to start a new profile.

The six sculptures chosen must represent six different artists.  If submitting more than one sculpture, the highest scoring sculpture will be considered.

Edition sizes over 50 will not be accepted.

Insurance will be provided by the City of Northglenn.

All works will be screened to ensure artistic merit and appropriateness for outdoor display.  A committee of local citizens, businesses, students and NAHF members will select the sculptures to be displayed.

Sculptures will be installed late May to early June and will remain on display for one year unless sold or prior arrangements are made.

The NAHF will be responsible for working with local and regional media to promote the art.  A full-color brochure describing the sculptures will be developed and distributed to interested citizens and visitors.

All submissions, including .jpg formatted photos, must be submitted via the CaFE website at https://www.callforentry.org/index.php. Videos are also accepted when mailed or emailed to the Director.  For additional information, please contact Director Michael Stricker at (303) 450-8727 or by email at mstricker@northglenn.org.  11801 Community Center Drive, Northglenn CO 80233.

Deadline for submission is February 27, 2015.

The NAHF, founded in 1990, provides funding for quality youth theatre, public art, and other cultural endeavors in the Denver, Colorado area’s north metro communities.  The Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) provides major funding for Art On Parade.
