Investigative journalism grants offered for unemployed reporters in the US

Experienced US investigative reporters who are currently unemployed can apply for a grant of up to US$10,000.

The George Polk Grants for Investigative Reporting offer financial support to experienced reporters to pursue projects related to social justice. The intent is to promote public awareness of social problems in immigration, housing, welfare, health and employment.
Special consideration is given to unemployed journalists, but this is not a requirement.
Applicants should have a proven record as an investigative reporter and propose a topic with which he or she is familiar. Grants range from US$2,500 to US$10,000 depending on the complexity of the project.
Grantees receive editorial supervision and help with publication.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
