Summer Residency and Solo Exhibition (Deadline: Apr 21st, 2013 )

We’re pleased to announce that applications for our summer residency and solo exhibition are now open, and will be selected by Helen Legg, Director of Spike Island, Bristol.
The summer residency runs for one month, from 25 July to 22 August 2013, and aims to provide a supportive environment in which to make new, exhibition standard work. To offer critical input during this intense period of development, Helen Legg will visit the selected artist in the studio during their residency. The residency is followed by a 3 week solo exhibition at The Lombard Method. There is an artist fee of £700, accommodation provided in Birmingham, and £400 available for materials and travel.
The residency studio at The Lombard Method has 24 hour access and includes wifi, and basic workshop and kitchen facilities. Housed alongside our 12 artist studios, you will be expected to be onsite for the majority of the residency. The selected artist will be supported by the directors of The Lombard Method and will have access to technical support during the exhibition install.
To apply, send the following to info@thelombardmethod.org, by 21 April 2013:
· Artist statement outlining your practice (500 words max)
· A proposal stating the work you intend to develop during the residency, your approach to the exhibition, and why this opportunity is suited to you at this time (500 words max)
· Up to 10 images of recent work, or a 5 minute showreel of moving image/audio work (Where possible please send links to online documentation)
· Details of the work included (title, year of production, materials)

The Lombard Method is an independently run studio and project space led by five Birmingham based artists, inaugurated in 2009. The Lombard Method aims to develop artists practice through critical dialogue, group interaction, and to engage with other artists and audiences through a programme of residencies, exhibitions, and events.
