ONSITE residency 2014 (UK)

http://www.t-a-p.org.uk/onsite-residency.html

Temporary Arts project Ltd, (TAP) are pleased to announce the return of our ONSITE residency for 2014,  selected by Andrew Hunt and Mike Nelson.

This opportunity is open to artists working in all media at any stage in their career, and is perfect for an ambitious artist or an artist group who is ready to take their work to the next level.

The residency will be based at TAP in the Winch Room - an unusual space that once contained a well.  Although the well is now capped and hidden under the floor, the old Victorian winching system still looms overhead at an epic 8.5m high.

Andrew Hunt and Mike Nelson will select a shortlist of artists from the ONSITE submissions. Shortlisted artists will take part in a group exhibition, from which the resident artist (or artists group) and a new runner up cash prize of £500 will be awarded.

Residency details:

The resident artist(s) will have sole use of the Winch Room space at TAP, during the residency and the final exhibition. The successful artist(s) will also be invited to discuss the prospect of using other parts of our large main gallery space.

Other facilities and equipment will include:

  • Use of the TAP facilities including: Printmaking Room, Design & Editing Suite and Dark Room
  • Use of TAP AV equipment including monitors, data projectors, DVD players, speakers
  • Use of TAP Tool Kit and ladders
  • Wireless Internet access
  • Access to social spaces including kitchen

The resident artist (artists group) will be supported by:

  • A £1,000 prize money
  • Help towards accommodation and travel expenses in/to Southend on Sea of up to £1,500
  • Assistance towards solo exhibition production and/or limited edition/publication  costs
  • Marketing costs of related events and solo exhibition
  • Presentation of the work in form of artist talks and workshops
  • Ongoing advice and support from gallery staff

Please note, we expect the successful artist(s) to commit to being on-site at TAP for at least one month of the residency.

The successful artist(s) will also be invited to take part in a variety of extended programme and events. There will also be opportunity for peer support and opportunities to meet with TAP’s own studio artists, other local artists, art initiatives and curators.

Applications are welcomed from all artists(s) based in the UK and overseas.
