professionals. During the review process, panelists are looking for
emerging and mid-career artists or artist teams who are ambitious,
self-challenging, present a professional application, and who will gain
professional experience from the residency and exhibition opportunity at
Franconia.
Artwork with Electronics
Artwork with electronic components must be
properly designed for long-term outdoor exhibition in an extreme
four-season climate. Franconia charges a one-time fee of $125 for
artwork requiring daily electricity. Please consider the following
responsibilities if you are considering making a proposal with
electronic components.
• Electronics must be protected in a weatherproof enclosure that is able
to withstand high winds, humidity, rainfall, snow, and extreme hot/cold
temperature.
• Electronics must be properly wired. Only outdoor underground rated
wire can be buried. Underground wires cannot contain any splices.
• Artists must test all hardware and software to make sure that it is as
error-free as possible, requiring little to no maintenance.
• Internal electronics must be accessible for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• All sculptures requiring an AC outlet will be powered from 8:00am to
8:00pm. Electronic components must be able to fully start upon powering
up without any manual intervention.
