Journalists, media scholars and researchers from the Middle
East/North Africa region can apply for this research grant in the United
States.
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the Middle East Program announced the 2013 competition,
where one candidate from the Middle East and North Africa will be
selected to spend three months between September 2013 and May 2014 to
carry out his or her own policy-oriented research and writing in
Washington.
Interested candidates must be working as reporters, columnists or
broadcasters in Arabic media outlets (print, television, radio or
electronic media), have at least five years of professional experience
and be able to work in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
Applicants must be able to hold a valid passport and obtain a J1 visa.
The visiting journalist will receive US$5,000 per month as a stipend
and will have to pay roughly one-quarter of the total cost of health
insurance.
The applicant should submit a 1,000 word description of a proposed
project, a detailed explanation of the research topic relevant to the
Middle East and the United States, a CV, a writing sample, two letters
of recommendation, and complete application form form to vajpATwilsoncenter.org.
