ACT Center (KR), International Call for Applicants: Creators In Lab Residency, with stipend

ACT Center is a new transdisciplinary institution that puts Gwangju, South Korea, at the forefront of global art, design, and culture dialogue. Launching with a major festival and exhibition in November 2015, ACT Center will commence a dynamic year-round program of activities that brings together leading Asian and international talents to share, collaborate, and inspire.

Hosted by the ACT Center in Gwangju, South Korea, “Creators in Lab” is a unique residency program for multidisciplinary professionals.

As “ACT Creators,” 10 selected artists/teams will be supported to work on individual projects using the infrastructure of the ACT Center. The outcomes of each project will be presented at the inaugural exhibition of the Asian Culture Center’s (ACC) Imaginary Circle, Asia Plastic Myths in November 2015.

Residency Period: 1 September, 2015–14 February, 2016 (five and a half months)

The total amount may differ according to the project, and if agreed as necessary through the proposal evaluation, can be adjusted upwards.

• If participating as a team, the work stipend is paid to each team member individually, whereas the project budget is paid to the team as a whole.

2015 Cheng Long Wetlands International Environmental Art Project in Taiwan

Artists from all countries are invited to send a proposal for a large-scale site-specific outdoor environmental sculpture installation to be created during a 25-day residency in Cheng Long, a small coastal village in southwest Taiwan, working with elementary school students, residents and volunteers. Gyeonggi Creation Center is an artist residency located in the west coast of Korea. Established in 2009, GCC aims to support artists from around the world and from various fields of art for their creative work and research. With various programs and facilities alongside the studios, GCC hopes to be a dynamic platform for an experimental and progressive contemporary art.

For the 2014 Residency Studio Program, GCC will accept applications from artists of all fields including visual and performing arts, film and new media, literature, music and sound arts. Artists from respective fields may also apply in our 2014 Open call.

3. Selection Procedure

4. Terms and Conditions/ Support Details 

○ Restrictions
▶ Compliance with user rules and to actively participate in GCC programs
▶ Using the studio for more than four days a week (If you are absent for a long period, you should discuss with the curatorial staff at GCC)
▶ Submit the report at the end of the residency
▶ Permitted to reside with one companion (required to notify beforehand)
▶ No pets and babies are allowed

Sharjah Art Foundation announces the 2014 Production Programme Open Call for grants to artists working in a range of media. Up to $200,000 is available in this application cycle. 

The Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) Production Programme broadens the possibilities for the production of art in the MENASA region through a commitment to support innovation and excellence in artistic practice by encouraging risk and experimentation. This commitment places artists at the core of the Foundation’s mission by offering grants and professional support for the realisation of projects selected from an open call for proposals.

The past decade has seen an extraordinary rise in artistic activity throughout the Middle East, resulting in an increased visibility for artists both regionally and internationally. Within this context, the Foundation hopes to promote and encourage an environment of public and private patronage for the highest level of artistic endeavour. This programme focuses on supporting artists in their individual attempts to create work on a scale they have perhaps never imagined possible.

Arts practitioners are invited to propose imaginative, ambitious and inspirational projects that will transform our understanding of what art is and how it can be experienced. With this initiative we hope to engage and challenge the artists, our audiences and ourselves aesthetically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, politically or in ways new and unexpected.

In 2014 we are offering production grants to artists working in a range of media including sculpture, installation, time-based media, artist’s books and performance. Up to a total of $200,000 is available in this application cycle. The success of a proposal will be determined by merit rather than budget. To this end, projects with budgets that range from modest to ambitious scales will be considered. The submission deadline is 31 January 2014 and selections will be announced in March. The selected projects will be developed and produced by the artist and the Sharjah Art Foundation, with presentation of the completed project as agreed between the artist(s) and SAF.
The Production Programme was launched in 2008. Over 500 submissions have been received, 230 applications considered and 31 projects selected for production.

We invite you to submit a proposal for Yarat's international artist residency program, located in Baku, Azerbaijan. The residency would be for 2 weeks during 2014 and we ask participants to create a series of workshops, lectures or participatory activities for artists as part of their residency. About Yarat YARAT is a not-for-profit contemporary art organisation based in Azerbaijan. They curate exhibitions throughout the year, organise education events and support a group of artists through a gallery and participation in biennials around the world. 2013 International Art Competition Taiwan

The Taiwan International Contemporary Artist Association has organized one of Asia’s top art contests, the International Art Competition (I.A.C.), since 2011. The organizer is now combining I.A.C. Together with Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.), the most important platform of art exchange in Taiwan, to promote individual artists to the international market. The combined power of both of these unrivaled art outlets will result in more opportunities of sponsorship, exhibition and sale.
